The global market for medical tourism: what do you know about it?

On October 2, the heads of Medical Tourism Agencies of the CIS Association made an official visit to the largest international Congress of medical tourism in Los Angeles organized by Global Healthcare Resource with the organizational support of the Medical Tourism Association.

This year, the Congress has taken a new level, bringing together two great events — the Congress on Medical Tourism and the Summit on corporate wellness. If you are ambitious and ready to develop global cooperation projects, then this is an event where you should be.

The exhibition gathered more than 1000 companies: the ministries of health of many countries, regional committees for the medical tourism development, a large community of assistance companies from all over the world from Korea to Canada, chief doctors and heads of international departments of the world's leading medical centers, world speakers and consulting companies, organizers of other global exhibitions, insurance companies, companies for the arbitration of medical checks (which is very important for the US and Canada), start-ups and IT projects in the field of medical tourism, as well as many prob.

The Congress is worth visiting because only there you can learn about the world's market trends, such as:

  • Clinics in Poland and Croatia are actively entering the US and European market with their proposal.
  • There is a specialization of the market: some companies specialize in the primary attraction of the patient, the second provide a second opinion of doctors, others help to organize a trip or provide services in the country where the patient receives treatment. Unfortunately, there are few such companies that specialize in post-treatment care of the patient, which is currently an unoccupied niche — the leading insurance companies have shared information that they do not have enough of such offers on the market, despite the fact that there is a need to outsource the after-care services.
  • A large number of IT initiatives and start-ups offer solutions to facilitate the work of all market participants.
  • The wellness industry is developing and is actively being introduced into the corporate segment, cooperating with international HR-companies (IBM, LinkedIn, Walmart and others) and small regional ones and much more.

The heads of the Association conducted more than 100 negotiations and concluded agreements on the joining of clinics from four more countries which are interested in working with Russian-speaking patients to the EasyCase network platform. The management of the Association also agreed on the participation in the buyer programs of several upcoming medical tourism key congresses.
